Who else LOVES apple pie as much as I do? Piping hot out of the oven served ala mode? YES PLEASE!!
For the Thanksgiving holiday I thought what better than to make a homemade apple pie. I went online (as I always do when looking for a new recipe) and started searching. I came across Ina Garten’s apple pie recipe (link listed below) and decided to use that one. I’ve followed her other recipes which are easy and straight forward so it was a no brainer. I then ventured out to the stores where I needed to collect my items.
I went to Costco and bought a 5.5 lb. container of Organic Gala Apples and then my usual grocery store for the rest of the ingredients. Ie: organic sugar, frozen pie crust, lemon, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and eggs.
I decided to sub the granny smith’s (listed in the directions) for the sweeter gala apples. Green granny smiths can be a bit tart and since I have an extra sweet tooth, why not make the pie a little sweeter! It’s the holidays anyway.
The pie came out perfect and it was served with Vanilla ice cream. Just the way I wanted to end my Thanksgiving meal.
